                Our dogs do more than just hunt!

 Although they're first and foremost our hunting companions, we have many other activities with our dogs in addition to hunting and NAVHDA testing. Some are AKC Canine Good Citizens and registered therapy dogs with TDInc. We do therapy visits at nursing homes and hospitals in our area, assist in physical therapy with stroke and head injury patients in the rehab unit at Salina Regional Health Center, present educational programs for schools and community groups and are canine ambassadors in the kids' booth at Sunflower/Wheatland Cluster dog shows.

AGILITY FUN!!!

Tulip earned her first qualifying leg for UAG I and placed 2nd in her division 
at our very first UKC Agility Trial hosted by Agility Ability of Kansas City, held in Lawrence, KS, Nov. 8, 2008. Now that winter is over, we are getting our course back up and starting training again for summer trials. 
One of the students at the school where Deb is a substitute teacher, SES High School, 
built a dog-walk for us as his Ag. Mech. III project and we just got it! 
Many, many thanks to SES Senior, Kirk Nelson, and the Ag Mech teachers,
Mr. Eric Deneault and Mrs. Brandie Disberger. Southeast of Saline Trojans are fantastic!!

We're really excited to have this custom built obstacle! It is adjustable height so we can set it low for beginners,
or all the way up to regulation height for advanced training.

We're already thinking about another obstacle for someone to built in the '09-10 school year...
maybe an A-frame, sway bridge or swing plank???

 We also had an introduction to Dock Diving at Milford Reservoir with a friend from Salina Kennel Club last summer and Fitzko had a blast (me too!) We're looking forward to summer and swimming again soon!

It was so much fun and our dogs all enjoy the water SO much (me too) that we found a great end-of-season bargain on a new 16' round, metal frame above ground pool! I can't wait to set it up this summer for dock diving practice & swimming fun right here at Konza Vadasz! 
We're learning about AKC Tracking and will be getting starting training with some friends. It's new to us and a little different than tracking game, but WHV have such keen noses and high desire to please, we think they'll do super.

Konza Vadasz Wirehaired Vizslas hunt with falconers in KS, CO, TX, WI, MI, AZ. We have placed both pups and adult dogs with falconers. They hunt with a variety of raptors from goshawks, Coopers Hawks, Harris hawks and redtails, to falcons, peregrines and kestrals. The WHV's lively intelligence and intuitive rapport with the falconers' birds make it a natural hunting partner in this fascinating ancient sport.
