Puppies

We are proud to raise healthy Wirehaired Vizslas with excellent characters and hunting ability. We spend a lot of time preparing and choosing the sire and dam for each litter. All our dogs are screened for hip displaysia and genetic eye problems and only those with OFA and CERF certificates are ever considered for breeding. We don't just breed the same pair of dogs over and over, preferring to use different mates each time to create the optimum combination of characteristics and expand the gene pool of this breed. Occasionally, we'll repeat a particular mating a second time, when offspring from the first litter have matured and proven to be worth repeating.
We expect puppy-buyers to have thought properly about buying a WHV puppy and we do screen buyers for suitability. A wirehaired vizsla is not the breed for everyone and we always want to ensure that our pups will be placed with families who are able and prepared to meet the needs of this breed. We only have puppies available from time to time. Pups are reserved by deposit in advance and buyers can expect to be on a waiting list. Our reservation agreement explains our policies and guarantee, as well as our expectations.

Our puppies are guaranteed healthy, fit and of sound mind & body. We may also occasionally have older, started dogs available. Contact us for more information about a puppy reservation or started dogs.

Our pups are whelped and raised in our home, socialized from birth and get lots of love and attention. We don't rush weaning and like to keep them until they're 8-9 weeks old to give them a good, strong start in life with extra socialization before they go to their new homes. They begin weaning at around 5 weeks, when they've outgrown their whelping box and move into a big pen. We introduce solid food at this point, since the dam is ready for a little time off by this point, but still nurses them 3 x a day. Gradually she tapers off nursing until they're eating 3 square meals of puppy food a day, at about 7-8 weeks. They are well socialized, vet checked, vaccinated and on parasite preventives before they go to their new homes. They will have been introduced to the crate and comfortable in it, taken a number of car rides to get used to traveling, introduced to pen-raised birds and, weather permitting, swimming. They meet friends and children. We play "Wing-on-a-string" along with fetching and tracking games.

Little puppies grow quickly and are big dogs in no time, but still need the same love & attention!
